Conformity
A change in belief or behaviour in order to fit in with a group. This is either a in response to either real or imagined group pressure
Compliance
Going along with others in public but privately not changing personal opinion or behaviours, superficial and often temporary change
Internalisation
Occurs when a person genuinely accepts the group norms. This results in private as well as public change of opinion or behaviour, permanent change
Normative social influence
Based on emotional factors and the need to be liked, to be accepted by others
Informational social influence
Based on cognitive factors and the need to be right, usually looking for the answers in people we admire and respect
