Magma
Molten rock located below or within the Earth's crust.
Lava
Molten rock found on or above the Earth's surface.
Weathering
The geological process that breaks down rock into smaller pieces and sediment.
Erosion
The process by which sediment is transported and moved from one location to another by agents such as wind, water, or ice.
Deposition
The geological process where sediments are dropped off, laid down, or settle in a new location.
Earth's Layers
Internal divisions of the Earth that formed due to density differences, causing denser materials to sink toward the center and less dense materials to remain near the surface.
Plate Tectonics
The movement and interaction of sections of Earth's crust along boundaries, including convergent, divergent, and transform boundaries.
Rock Cycle
The continuous series of geological processes through which rocks are created, broken down, transformed, and recycled over time.
Geologic Time
The chronological framework used to describe the timing and relationships of events throughout Earth's geological history.
