Cone
A solid figure with a circular base and a curved surface that forms a point, or vertex, at the top.
Right cone
A cone whose axis is an altitude.
Oblique cone
A cone whose axis is NOT and altitude.
Altitude
The perpendicular distance from the vertex of a cone to the plane if its base.
Radius
The distance from the center of the circular base to any point on its outer edge. Half of the diameter.
Axis
The line segment connecting the vertex of a cone to the center of its base.
V=1/3(pi)r²h
The formula for the volume of a cone
V=Bh
The formula for the volume of a a prism. B is the area of the base and h is the height.
V=1/3Bh
The volume for a pyramid.
V=(pi)r²h
The volume formula of a cylinder.
S = 2(pi)rh + 2(pi)r²
The surface area formula for a right cylinder.
S = 1/2LP + B
The surface area formula for a regular pyramid.
