What is a cell?
The smallest structural and functional unit of living things that can carry out life functions on its own.
What is the difference between unicellular and multicellular organisms?
Unicellular organisms are made of only one cell, whereas multicellular organisms are made of many cells and different types of cells.

Is Paramecium classified as a unicellular or multicellular organism?
Unicellular

Is Petromyzon classified as a unicellular or multicellular organism?
Multicellular

Is an octopus classified as a unicellular or multicellular organism?
Multicellular

Is Amoeba classified as a unicellular or multicellular organism?
Unicellular
What are the three principles that make up cell theory?
What contribution did Hooke make to cell theory?
First to identify cells and named them.
Why did Robert Hooke name the tiny structures 'cells'?
They reminded him of tiny rooms.
What contribution did Leeuwenhoek make to cell theory?
Made better lenses for microscopes.
What contribution did Schleiden make to cell theory?
First to note that plants are made of cells.
What contribution did Schwann make to cell theory?
Concluded that ALL living things are made of cells.
What contribution did Virchow make to cell theory?
Proposed that all cells come from other cells.
What are organelles?
Structures or parts within a cell that all have different functions.
What tools do scientists use to study cells?
Microscopes
True or False: The human body is made up of one type of cell.
False. The human body has many types of cells like red blood cells, muscle cells, skin cells etc.
