Vocabulary flashcards on triangle congruence rules, right triangle theorems, and diagram notation.
SSS (Side-Side-Side) Congruence
A congruence theorem stating that if 3 sides in a △ correspond to 3 sides in another △, then the two △'s must be congruent.
SAS (Side-Angle-Side) Congruence
A congruence theorem where two sides and the included angle in between the 2 corresponding sides are congruent.
AAS (Angle-Angle-Side)
A congruence rule requiring two corresponding and congruent angles and one set of corresponding and congruent sides.
ASA (Angle-Side-Angle)
A triangle congruence rule where two angles and the included side between them are corresponding and congruent.
HL (Hypotenuse-Leg)
A congruence rule used for right triangles only, requiring a congruent hypotenuse and leg.
SSA
A combination of Side-Side-Angle that can never ever be used to prove triangle congruence.
Tic Marks
Markings on sides or angles in a geometric diagram that mean congruence.
Congruence Statement
A statement such as △ABC ?? △DEF or △ABC∋△DEF that indicates triangle congruence and must be written in corresponding order.
