General Anxiety Disorder
Symptoms: Always worried, aches/pains, constant tension
Treatment: Decrease stress in life, deep breathing/relaxation techniques
Social Phobias
Symptoms: Everyday fear of social/public sistuations, avoidance at school, sweats/shakes when people look at them.
Treatment: Exposure therapy
Exposure Therapy
Involves gradually exposing the individual to the anxiety source without intent to endanger.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder
Anxiety disorder in which people have unwanted and repeated thoughts, feelings, ideas, sensastions, or behaviors that make them feel driven to do something.

Treatment: support groups, engaging in empowering activities to overcome helplessness.
Panic Disorder
a psychiatric disorder that has debilitating anxiety/fear without cause.
Symptoms: hearts starts pounding, feels dizzy, can't breathe.
Treatment: Controlled breathing techniques, guided relaxation/yoga/meditation
Schizophrenia
Symptom: Delusions/hallucinations, disorganized speech, social withdrawal, false beliefs, agitation, lack of emotional expression.
Treatment: CBT, Family Therapy, Antipsychotic medications.
Bipolar Disorder
Serious shift in mood, energy, thinking and behavior from the highs of mania to the lows of depression.
Treatment: mood stabilizing medications
Bipolar Mania
feeling unusually high and optimistic/irritable, sleeping very little but with high energy, racing thoughts, and easily distracted.
Bipolar depression
Feeling hopeless, loss of energy, sleep problems, thoughts of suicide.
Dissociative Identity Disorder
characterized by presence of two or more distianct personality states. Usually a reaction to trauma to avoid bad memories.
Symptoms: Impulsivity, self-harm, anxiety, mood swings, altered consciousness, depression, flashback.

Borderline Personality Disorder
Characterized by a pervasive, long-term pattern of significant interpersonal relationship instability, a distorted sense of self, and intense emotional responses.
Symptoms: fear of abandoment, unstable relationships, self-harm, extreme emotional swings, explosive anger, impulsivity.
Treatment: CBT, DBT
DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy - treatment for BPD that focuses on teaching individual skills to manage emotions, improve relationships, and reduce self-harm behaviors.
