Features of the Kidneys?
Surrounded by strong capsule, has a cortex and a medulla.
What is a Glomerulus?
High pressure groups of capillaries found in the Bowman’s capsule of a nephron in the kidney.
What is the Bowman’s capsule?
Double-walled, cup-shaped structure found in the start of a nephron in the kidney that surrounds the glomerulus to collect fluid during ultrafiltration.
Define ultrafiltration?
Process where fluid from the blood is moved into the Bowman’s capsule.
Define osmosis?
The net movement of water molecules from an area of high water potential to an area of low water potential, down a gradient and across a partially permeable membrane.
