Battery Cable Removal Sequence
The procedure of disconnecting the negative (−) clamp and cable first, then the positive (+) cable, before releasing the hold-down to remove the battery.
Tracing the Starter Circuit
The method of tracing vehicle starting circuit wiring by following it from the positive (+) battery terminal to the fender-mounted solenoid, down to the starter.
Fender-Mounted Solenoid
A solenoid component positioned between the positive (+) battery terminal connection and the starter in the starting circuit.
Battery Ground
The electrical return path connected directly to the negative (−) terminal of the battery.
Fusible Link
A circuit protection element located along the positive wiring line coming from the battery in the starting circuit diagram.
Ignition Switch
A switch in the starting circuit connected to the positive battery supply that feeds power toward the neutral safety switch.
Neutral Safety Switch
A switch inline between the ignition switch and the starter solenoid to prevent the starter from engaging when the vehicle is not in park or neutral.
