Hydrogen Bond

a weak attraction between molecules that helps hold water molecules together

Cohesion

attraction between molecules of the same substance (Hint: Water molecules stick to each other because of this.)

Adhesion

an attraction between molecules of different substances (Hint: Water sticks to other materials because of this.)

Solution

a mixture in which one substance is evenly dissolved in another

Solute

the substance that is dissolved in a solution

Solvent

the substance that dissolves the solute to form a solution

Hydrophilic

a substance that is attracted to water and mixes or interacts well with it. (Hint: "Water-loving")

Hydrophobic

A substance that repels water and does not mix well with it. (Hint: "Water-fearing")
