Divine Inspiration

Biblical Inerrancy
The belief that what God intends to reveal to us in the Bible is without error.
Canon
The collection of books that "measure up" and are accepted as Scripture.
Deuterocanon
Books considered canonical by Catholics but not Protestants.
Exegesis
Interpretation of biblical texts that is "led out" by what God intends to say
Eisegesis
Interpreting text based on personal biases, or what we want the Bible to say.
Imago Dei
Humanity created in God's image and likeness.
Original Sin
The state of human nature inherited from Adam's participation in the first sin.
Protoevangelion
The first announcement of the Gospel of Jesus in Genesis 3:15.
Senses of Scripture
Scripture Interpretation taking literal and spiritual (moral, allegorical, anagogical) meaning into account.

Literary Form
A technical term in biblical studies that simple means "genre"
Literal
This sense of Scripture refers to the actual direct meaning of a passage
Spiritual
This sense of Scripture refers to the deeper meaning of a passage
Moral Sense
The deeper meaning in this sort of Spiritual Sense teaches us something about right or wrong and living justly.
Allegorical Sense
The deeper meaning in this sort of Spiritual Sense points ahead toward the person and work of Jesus Christ
Analogical Sense
The deeper meaning in this sort of Spiritual Sense points to eternal realities, like Heaven or Hell.
Covenant
Sacred vow or promise between two or more parties, creating a family bond.
Tower of Babel
Genesis 11; the monument mankind tried to build to his own greatness — led to the confusion of languages of its builders

The sons of Adam and Eve; one killed the other out of envy
Covenant with Noah
God will not totally wipe out humanity again, a promise signified by God's "bow" in the sky.
