Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient

generally daily or multiple times a week for several hours a day, includes individual, group, and pharmacological support

Partial Hospitalization/Day Treatment

daily for most of the day, serve as stepdown from inpatient or residential care, include individual, group, and medication services

Residential

patients live in treatment center, receive intensive care for a few months, include individual, group, and medication services

Inpatient

intended to provide stabilization during acute episodes, involves crisis management and medication, development of plan for ongoing care

Depressed Mood

as a mood state, depression consists of feeling of sadness, despair,, anxiety, emptiness, or hopelessness, may be tearful or no feelings

Depression as Syndrome

describes a specific constellation of symptoms and signs

Depressive Episode

dpressive syndrome that can occur in several psych disorders like MDD, bipolar, or schizophrenia

Depressive Disorder Criteria

consists of at least 1 major depressive episode with no history of mania or hypomania

Depressive Episode Criteria

a period of at least 2 consecutive weeks with 5 or more symptoms

• depressed mood, adhedonia, insomnia or hypersomnia, change in appetite or weight, psychomotor slowing or agitation, low energy, poor concentration, thoughts of worthlessness or guilt, recurrent thoughts about death or suicide

at least one symptom MUST be depressed mood or anhedonia
