Conversion

The process of renaming a measurement using different units.

conversion factor

A rate in fraction form that equals one because both the numerator and denominator represent the same amount.

double number line

A model of two number lines drawn parallel to each other labeled with pairs of numbers in a relationship. This can be used to model rates and unit rates.

equivalent ratios

A comparison of two quantities with the same value.

metric system

A base-ten, or decimal, system of measurement.

rate

A ratio of two numbers that have different units.

A comparison of two numbers using division.

A model that shows multiple equivalent ratios.

A visual model that can be used to illustrate ratios.

unit rate

A rate with a denominator of 1.

The system of measurement used in the United States.
