The Hero

A figure blamed for everything, regardless of actual fault.
The Mentor
Assists the hero with knowledge, wisdom, and guidance, sometimes a parental figure.
The Maiden
A compassionate, fragile character, often referred to as the damsel in distress.
The Devil Figure
Evil incarnate, offers worldly goods or fame in exchange for the protagonist's soul.
The Earth Mother
Symbolizes fruition, abundance, and fertility; offers spiritual and emotional nourishment.
The Task
A situation where a character or group must complete a significant duty.
The Quest
A search for something, the goal often revolves around the actions and feelings of the character(s).
The Loss of Innocence
A character's loss of innocence through experiences like violence or sexual encounters.
The Initiation
The process that brings a character into adulthood or another sphere of influence.
The Fall
Describes a descent from a higher to a lower state of being, often involving expulsion as a penalty.
Cataracts of Heaven
Symbols of barrenness and disharmony (Wasteland), force of mass destruction (Flood), and safe return (Mountaintop).
Water
Symbolizes creation, cleansing, fertility, and the unconscious; associated with death and rebirth.
Sun
Represents creative energy, consciousness, and the passage of time; rising sun symbolizes birth while setting sun symbolizes death.
Colours
Red symbolizes blood and passion; green symbolizes growth and hope; blue symbolizes truth; black represents chaos; white symbolizes purity.
Numbers
Three symbolizes spiritual awareness; four relates to the life cycle; seven signifies perfect order and completion.
Circle
Symbolizes infinity, continuity in life, and wholeness.
