Climate
Atmospheric conditions of the planet or region over a long period of time.
Weather
Atmospheric conditions at a particular place and time described in terms of air temperature, pressure, humidity, wind speed, and precipitation.
Climatology
The study of climate based on aggregates of weather statistics and statistical data collected over periods of 30 years, examining precipitation, temperature, humidity, sunshine, wind velocity, fog, frost, and hailstorms over time.
Meteorology
The science that studies short-term weather phenomena, including sunshine, rain, cloud cover, winds, hail, snow, sleet, freezing rain, flooding, blizzards, ice storms, and heat waves.
Global Warming
The increase in the average measured temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and oceans (with average global air temperature increasing by about 1.18°C over the past 100 years).
Greenhouse Effect
A process by which solar radiation is absorbed by greenhouse gases and the temperature of Earth's atmosphere is increased.
Enhanced Greenhouse Effect
Amplification of natural greenhouse warming caused by excess anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel combustion, deforestation, and biomass burning.
Climate Change
Any change in climate over time, whether due to natural variability or as a result of human activity.
