neutral stimulus
A neutral stimulus (NS) is a stimulus that does not naturally trigger any particular response before learning occurs.
Example: In Pavlov’s experiment, the bell at first was a neutral stimulus because it didn’t cause salivation in the dogs before it was paired with food.

Adjusting or creating new schemas to fit new information.
Example: The child learns that cats are different from dogs and updates their “animal” schema.
