Evolution (Bahnsen)

  1. Challenge presuppositions: Evolution rests on naturalistic assumptions that interpret all data, not neutral "facts." Demand that atheists justify their worldview first. 2. Expose induction's failure: Atheists rely on inductive science (e.g., past mutations predict future species), but without God's orderly creation, they can't warrant nature's uniformity—Hume's problem crushes them. 3. Undermine cognitive reliability: If unguided evolution shaped minds for survival only, not truth, why trust evolutionary arguments? Self-defeating circularity. 4. TAG: Logic, laws of nature, and intelligibility presuppose the triune God's rational mind. Evolution can't ground these preconditions it borrows. 5. Scripture: Genesis special creation alone accounts for humans as image-bearers capable of true knowledge (Rom. 1:20). Atheism collapses; Christianity coheres.

Evolution (Frame)

  1. Assert Scripture's authority: Bible is the ultimate norm (normative perspective); evolution starts from autonomous reason, not God's Word.[conversation_history earlier] 2. Test across perspectives: Evolution fails situationally (facts interpreted naturalistically), normatively (no basis for logic/morality), and existentially (why trust evolved minds?). 3. Broad circle validation: Evidences (fossils, uniformity) confirm Scripture, which predicts orderly creation—unlike evolution's narrow circle of reason proving reason. 4. Impossibility of contrary: Naturalism can't justify preconditions (induction, abstracts); Christianity's triune God grounds all intelligibility multiperspectivally. 5. Graceful offense: Use evidences offensively after exposing incoherence, glorifying God as source of knowledge (Jn 17:17).

How Does Bahnsen Tie In Scripture?

Genesis: special creation of man in God’s image, not a product of blind processes. Romans 1: unbelievers “suppress the truth” they know about God from creation, which includes His clear power and wisdom in design. So his “primary argument” is not “here is a better fossil” but:Evolutionary naturalism cannot justify reason, science, or morality. Christian theism explains them perfectly. Therefore, evolution as a God‑denying system collapses at the level of presuppositions, before you ever get to the lab bench.
