The 2 degree threshold

Within 2 degrees cooler of the pre-industrial baseline, human civilization, agriculture, and infrastructure were established. Economist William Nordhaus in the 70’s established this threshold that human civilization had never experienced climate outside this 2 degree threshold, which was later confirmed by scientific research.

The 1.5 degree threshold to Avoid Catastrophic Global Warming

Small island nations stated that they would not be able to survive up to 2 degrees, due to sea level rise, flooding, loss of water supply, and more intense hurricane/cyclones. This was further confirmed by research confirming the possible catastrophic impacts of exceeding the 1.5 degree threshold.
