Dance
Purposeful and organized human movement that uses body, space, time, and energy to communicate meaning.

Recreational Dance
A phase of dance focused on inclusive, simple, and repetitive patterns designed for beginner enjoyment and social participation.
Cardiorespiratory Endurance
A health-related fitness component developed by performing continuous rhythmic movement long enough to keep the heart rate elevated.
Power
A skill-related fitness component utilized during explosive vertical movements or jumps on accented beats.
Reaction Time

A figure where opposite dancers pass around one another right shoulder to right shoulder without turning and return to place.

A figure in dance where opposite couples proceed straight across the formation to exchange places.
Jaleo
A turn in which partners place right elbows near each other and turn once around together.
Arms in Lateral Position
A pose where both arms are placed at one side of the body, either to the right or to the left.
Arms in Reverse T
A posture where upper arms are held horizontal at shoulder level, elbows are bent at right angles, and forearms point upright.
Whirl
Executing repeated small turning steps in place rather than turning on one fixed point.
