How you see yourself as your unique self.
Role model
Someone's success or behavior is a role model to you.
Personality
A complex set of characteristics that makes you unique.
Character
Distinctive qualities that describes a person’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Integrity
A firm observance of core values.
Constructive criticism
Comments that help point out problems and encourage improvement.
Emotions
Signals that tell the mind to have the body react in a certain way.
Hormones
Chemicals produced by glands that regulate the activities of cells.
Hostility
Uncontrolled anger that harms others or you.
Empathy
The ability to imagine and understand how someone else feels.
Defense mechanisms
Mental processes that protect individuals from strong or stressful emotions and situations.
Repression
Involuntarily pushing unpleasant feelings out of one’s mind.
Regression
Returning to immature behaviors as a means of dealing with problems.
Denial
Lack of recognition of something that is obvious to others.
Projection
Attributing your own feelings to another person or group.
Suppression
Consciously pushing unpleasant thoughts out of one’s mind.
Rationalization
Making excuses to explain a situation or behavior.
Compensation
Making up for weaknesses and mistakes through gift-giving or extreme efforts.
Displaced aggression
Directing anger toward someone other than the person who caused the anger.
Reaction formation
Behaving in a way opposite of the way you are feeling.
