Chemical change
A process that occurs when the atoms in an element or compound are rearranged to form a new substance with different properties.
Pure substance
Matter that is made up of only one kind of element or compound.
Pastry chef
A person who is skilled in creating a variety of baked goods.
Law of conservation of matter
The principle that matter is not completely destroyed during a process or change, such as when a log is burned in a fireplace.
Formation of table salt
A chemical change where sodium and chlorine join to form a new substance with properties different from either original element.
Chemical change in a fried egg
An irreversible change demonstrated by the white part of the egg changing color, transitioning from liquid to solid state, and developing a different odor when heated.
