People can shape their own lives through their decisions and actions.
Equality of Opportunity
Opportunity is not inherited, rather given to everyone, and they make what they do of it.
Free Enterprise
The market controls prices, limited to no govt. involvement in economy.
Rule of Law
No one is above the law; including public officials
Political Socialization
The ways people form their political beliefs, values, opinions, and behaviours. This can be influenced by:
-Family
-School
-Religon
Politcal Ideology
A coherent set of beliefs about the govt. and politics.
Generational Effect
The events that occur in ones life time and how they shape their political opinions (i.e. Divorce).
Life Cycle Effect
People the same age have similar opinions because they lived through the same events at the same time (i.e. Vietnam, Covid).
Globalization
The connection of business, people, and govt. throughout the world. Shown through trade and immigration. Increased due to internet and better technology.
