parts of the nephron
glomerulus
bowman’s capsule
proximal convoluted tubule
loop of henle
distal convoluted tubule
collecting duct
ultrafiltration - process
blood comes along a capillary under high pressure
the capillary forms a bundle called the glomerulus
all the small items of the blood are then forced out in the beginning of the nephron called the bowman’s capsule
this pressure leads to ultrafiltration
blood leaves the glomerulus and the capillary continues around the nephron
the capillaries join up with others to form the renal vein
the useful products must move out of the nephron back into the blood
small items - components
glucose
amino acids
water
fats
ions

big items - components
blood cells
large proteins
