Unity and Discipline
The official motto of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).
National Cadet Corps (NCC)
A youth organization in India raised under an Act of Parliament on 15 July 1948, aiming at character building, leadership, patriotism, and national integration.
Senior Division / Senior Wing (SD/SW)
The division of NCC cadets representing students enrolled from colleges and universities.
Junior Division / Junior Wing (JD/JW)
The division of NCC cadets representing students enrolled from schools.
Associate NCC Officer (ANO)
A professor or teacher trained at Officers Training Academies (Kamptee or Gwalior) to impart training to NCC cadets in schools and colleges.
Institutional Training
Training organized within educational institutions in the form of regular parades.
Camp Training
Formal NCC training organized as residential camps lasting 10 to 12 days.
Attachment Training
Formal training organized by attaching cadets to active Army, Naval, or Air Force units or officer training academies like IMA and OTA.
Cadet Welfare Society (CWS)
A society providing financial aid, relief, and academic scholarships to NCC cadets or their next of kin in case of injury, fatality, or outstanding performance.
Cultural Integration
A cultural exchange process where one group adopts beliefs and rituals of another group without losing its own unique cultural identity.
Centrally Organised Camps (COC)
12-day camps planned by HQ DGNCC bringing together cadets nationwide to foster esprit de corps and unity in diversity.
Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat Camp (EBSB)
All-India integration camps (formerly National Integration Camps) designed to bridge cultural gaps and celebrate India's heritage.
National Security
The security of a country within its borders, maintaining internal peace, law, order, and territorial sovereignty.
Drill
A systematic and sequential method of executing military movements to instill discipline, turnout, and team spirit.
Open Drill
Drill movements conducted in field conditions during tactical scenarios.
Close Drill
Drill movements conducted on a parade ground during peace conditions.
Savdhan
The attention position in drill where heels are together at a 30-degree toe angle, knees locked, arms straight along seams, chest up, and eyes front.
Vishram
The stand-at-ease position in drill where the left foot is placed 12 inches to the left, hands are bound at the back, and body weight is equally distributed.

An obstacle featuring two parallel wooden bars at 3 ft and 5 ft heights, crossed by holding the top bar and stepping on the lower bar.

High Wall (Obstacle Training)
A 6 ft high and 12 ft long plastered brick wall that cadets clear by running, kicking the wall, pulling themselves up, and vaulting over.
