Democracy
A form of government voted in by the citizens where representatives act on behalf of the citizens.
Confederation
The birth of Canada on July 1, 1867, uniting Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick.
Worldview
The way a person or a group of people views the world, shaped by culture, beliefs, rules, and laws, which influences actions, decisions, and feelings.
Bilingualism
A condition in which a country has two or more official languages.
Social Studies
The study of the interactions of events and human societies.
Francophone
A person who has French as their first language.
Society
A group of people connected through traditions and shared beliefs.
Multiculturalism
A community or place that contains more than one culture, characterized by multiple beliefs, traditions, and languages.
Aboriginal
The first people in Canada, including specific distinct groups such as First Nations and Métis.
Inuit
Indigenous people who inhabit the Arctic, Yukon, and northern regions of Canada.
Oral Tradition
Traditions, culture, and history passed down through spoken word, stories, and speech.
Thesis
A statement declaring what an argument or research is attempting to prove.
Immigrant
An individual or group coming into a new country to settle.
Emigration
The act of leaving or exiting one's country as an individual or a group.
Immigration Pattern
The observable trend or reporting of people migrating into a country and the effects of those events.
Citizenship
Official membership and recognized status within a community or country.
Ethnocentrism
Judging the world, other people, and different cultures primarily through the lens and standards of one's own traditions and beliefs.
