Phagocytosis
Cellular eating; the ability of some cells to engulf large particles and digest them by merging the food vacuole with a lysosome.

Process in which the plasma membrane furrows inward to take in substances.
Pinocytosis
A form of endocytosis; a nonspecific process where the plasma membrane invaginates to engulf extracellular fluid.
Receptor-mediated endocytosis
Endocytosis triggered by the binding of specific extracellular molecules to receptor proteins on the plasma membrane.
Exocytosis
Process by which cellular products are secreted into the extracellular environment by vesicle fusion with the plasma membrane.
