Cranial Bones

A group of bones including the Frontal bone, Parietal bones, Temporal bones, Occipital bone, Sphenoid bone, and Ethmoid bone.

Facial Bones

A group of bones including the Nasal bones, Maxillary bones, Zygomatic bones, Mandible, and Lacrimal bones.

Mastoid process

A bony landmark located on the temporal bone.

Mandibular fossa

A depression on the temporal bone where the mandible articulates.

External auditory meatus

The ear canal opening located in the temporal bone.

Occipital condyles

Projections on the occipital bone used for articulation.

Foramen magnum

The large opening in the occipital bone through which the spinal cord passes.

External occipital protuberance

A prominent midline bump on the external surface of the occipital bone.

Cribriform plate

A structure that is part of the ethmoid bone.

Mandibular condyle

A rounded projection on the mandible that articulates with the temporal bone.

Lacrimal sulcus

A groove or landmark identified on the facial bones near the lacrimal bone and maxilla.

Suture

A type of joint or connection line between the bones of the skull.

Masseter

A specific muscle identified in the anatomy of the head and neck.

Sternocleidomastoid

A major muscle of the neck used for head movement.

Right subclavian artery

A blood vessel located on the right side that supplies blood toward the arm and neck.

Brachiocephalic artery

A large artery that branches into the right subclavian and right common carotid arteries.

Common carotid

A major artery in the neck that supplies blood to the head.

Left subclavian artery

A blood vessel on the left side of the body identified in neck anatomy.

Internal jugular veins

Major veins that drain blood from the brain and deep neck.

External jugular veins

Veins (Right and Left) that drain blood from the more superficial parts of the head and neck.

Brachiocephalic vein

Veins (Right and Left) formed by the union of the internal jugular and subclavian veins.
