1/5
Vocabulary flashcards covering the process, location, inputs, and outputs of the Electron Transport Chain from the lecture notes.
Electron Transport Chain
A mitochondrial process requiring oxygen that occurs in the cristae and uses high-energy e− from glycolysis and Krebs to convert ADP to ATP.
Cristae
The inner membrane folds of the mitochondria where the Electron Transport Chain occurs.
NADH and FADH2
Electron carriers that supply high-energy e− originating from glycolysis and the Krebs cycle to the Electron Transport Chain.
Inner Membrane Space
The compartment of the mitochondria into which H+ ions are pumped during electron transport.
ATP Synthase
The protein complex through which H+ ions move to generate 32ATP from ADP+P.
Water (H2O)
The product formed when H+ ions combine with oxygen and e− at the end of the Electron Transport Chain.
