Echo Chambers
Environments where people primarily encounter information or opinions that mirror their own, insulating them from opposing viewpoints.
Filter Bubbles
a situation in which an internet user encounters only information and opinions that conform to and reinforce their own beliefs, caused by algorithms that personalize an individual’s online experience.
Lateral reading
Fact-checking a claim by opening new browser tabs to see what independent sources say about the publisher, rather than staying on the original page.
Provenance Protocol
A set of technical standards or rules used to verify the origin, history, and authenticity of digital content.
Misinformation
False or inaccurate information shared without harmful intent, often by people who genuinely believe it is true.
Disinformation
False information created and spread intentionally to deceive, confuse, or harm others.
Cherry Picking
Selecting only the specific pieces of evidence that support a personal viewpoint while deliberately ignoring a larger body of facts that contradict it.
