What are the three methods in which different species are able to interact? Give an example of each category of interaction.

Competition - When 2 different populations use the same limiting resource they both require for survival. Many reef fish species, such as damselfish and wrasses, compete for territory on coral reefs.

Symbiosis - A close, long-term interaction between two different biological species. Mutualism - both species benefit, Commensalism - one species benefits with no apparent effect on the other, Parasitism - one species benefits & the other is harmed (tapeworms in the guts of whales)

Predator - prey (Predation) - one species kills another for food (Orcas hunting for sea lions or seals)

Why is there a salt wedge in an estuary?

This structure forms when freshwater from a river meets and flows over denser, saltier ocean water. a salt wedge forms in estuaries where strong freshwater flow, low tidal influence, and density differences create a layered system with seawater intruding along the bottom
