Rosin: Oh, come on
You really think so
Jessica: How DO you know?
So who who’s it gonna be?
Julie: What?
You’re the violins. This is it. So. As a humble clarinet, can I ask: who’s it gonna be?
Rosin: And the Juilliard girl went AFTER she graduated. Not before. Not DURING her senior year, but after.
Katie was really good, though.
Jessica: Maybe she is, Julie. I mean, no offence to you maybe she is
Shut up, Jessica
Jessica: He doesn’t have anything. He just has us. We’re it.
Well, that settles that
Messica: Wait, so is when pregnant or is she dead?
She moved. It’s so obvious, right? Katie just moved and switched schools…Right?
Julie: We were orchestra friends
Guys, if she doesn’t want to talk about it
Julie: I don’t know what happened to her, okay? (runs off)
Not cool, guys
Jessica: I can’t help it if your girlfriend is not first chair material
She’s not my girlfriend
Messica: -as long as you don’t screw up
You’re making her nuts
Messica: It’s just ‘cause he went to private school
Though maybe she was on that plane
Messica: What plane?
The plane that went missing. They haven’t heard about it if she’d been on the missing plane
Jessica: We would’ve definitely heard about it if she’d been on the missing plane.
…or not
Jessica and Messica: What?
So which one of you’s gonna be first chair?
Julie: What? Who? Wait, wait!
Whoa, sweet new case
Julie: It’s not mine
Then whose is it?
Custodian: Otherwise, I would have nothing.
I think this is a sign
Julie: Of what?
You should audition. YOU should be first chair. This was Katie’s case. Soo if she gave it to you…
Julie: I can’t even open it. It’s stuck. I’m not even sure there’s a violin inside
So?
Julie: Plus, I’m fifth chair. Even if I was remotely qualified to audition, there are three people ahead of me who deserve it more than me
No, there is Rosin, who is psycho and therefore, undesirable. And then there’s Jessica and Messica, who don’t even count.
Julie: Why don’t they count?
A. They’re twins, they do everything together. And B. It’s called first chair, not first chairs. So they can’t BOTH do it
Julie: My freshman year, he stopped me after two notes.
What?
Julie: I got two notes in before he said to stop. That was my whole audition.
First chair is not just about playing ability. It’s also about a lot of other things.
Mrs. Jackson: Reed, are you staying for dinner?
Nah, I gotta get back Mrs. Jackson. And Julie’s gotta practice
Mrs. Jackson: Nothing?
Bye, Julie! Good luck.
Custodian:…Or none of that happens, time goes on, and I keep cleaning up other people’s messes
I have a band. It’s cool. And I have a dog. And a girlfriend. And we play together. Me and my girlfriend, not the dog. I’m mostly happy until I die of a heart attack at fifty two. It’s cool. I kinda saw it coming.
