Reflection
A communication technique where you repeat back what someone has just said to you, but in your own words, to show you are trying to understand them.
Reflection Tone of Voice
A tone that comes across as a statement with a bit of uncertainty, expressing the idea: "I think this is what you're telling me, but correct me if I'm wrong."
Reflecting Emotions
The practice of picking up on how a speaker feels through their tone of voice or body language and reflecting it back, even if they did not clearly describe those feelings.
Reflection Phrasing
Varied phrases such as "I hear you saying that…", "It sounds like you feel…", and "You're telling me that…" used to prevent reflections from sounding forced.
Main Point Focus
The core objective when reflecting a speaker's message, where the listener focuses on the central idea rather than getting caught up in all the little details.
