What is a protocol?
A protocol is a set of rules governing communication across a network, which are agreed by both the sender and the recipient.
What is a packet?
A packet is a message or data that is split up into smaller groups of bits for transmission over a network.
What is the difference between a push protocol and a pull protocol?
A push protocol is used when sending emails, where the client opens a connection to the server, uploads the email, and keeps the connection active. A pull protocol is used when receiving emails, where the client periodically connects to a server to check for and download new emails, and then closes the connection.
What is a binary file?
A binary file is a file that does not contain text only; it is machine-readable but not human-readable.
