Duration of Schacht’s Plan
Schacht’s 4-year economic plan was "to run over a period of 4 years (1934–1938)". Schacht was Hitler’s first Minister of the Economy "1934 to 1937".
Initial unemployment in 1933–34
The economy needed reviving because "over 6 million Germans were unemployed by 1933". By 1934, "8 million Germans were unemployed". The unemployment rate was "25.9% of the working population".
Final unemployment under Schacht
By 1935, there were "1.2 million unemployed German workers". Unemployment fell to "7.4% of the working population by 1936".
Job-creation spending
Between 1933 and 1935 the Nazi government spent "5 Billion Reichsmarks on job creation schemes known as Arbeitdienst".
MEFO Bills investment
MEFO Bills raised public investment from "2.2 Billion Reichsmarks in 1932 to 8.1 Billion Reichsmarks in 1936". Investors could hold MEFO Bills for "up to 5 years, earning a 4% interest rate a year".
Industrial production increase
The policy of Autarky led to a "50% increase in industrial production" by 1935.
Trade success
Germany achieved "a trade surplus in 1935 for the first time in over a decade".
Agricultural price changes
Agricultural prices increased by "20% between 1933 & 1937".
Real wage changes
