Pythagorean Theorem
A theorem used to find the side of a right triangle. a2+b2=c2
Hypotenuse
The longest side of a right triangle. (C)
Slope
A number that measures the steepness and direction of a line. y2-y1/x2-x1
x-intercept
The exact point on a graph that crosses or touches the horizontal axis.
y-intercept
The exact point on a graph where a line crosses the vertical axis.
Parallel
Straight lines on the same flat surface that never intersect or cross.
Perpendicular
Two straight lines that cross or meet each other at a 90 degree angle.
Intersecting
When two or more lines cross or meet to share a point.
Midpoint
The exact middle point on a line segment. M= (x1+x2/2 , y1+y2)
Perpendicular Bisector
A line that divides another line segment into two equal halves at a right angle. Flip and negate. Use point slope form y-y1=m(x-x1).
Directed Line Segment
A straight path that starts at one specific point and ends at another.
