Where does the light independant reaction/Calvin cycle occur?
Explain what is occurring in the image?
In the stroma
•CO2 enters the leaf through the stomata and joins with RuBP(5 carbon compound) with the help of the enzyme rubiscose.
•This forms an unstable 6 C compound and it breaks down into 2 GP molecules(3 carbon compound).

Explain what’s occurring in the image?
•2x ATP molecules are hydrolysed into 2X ADP + Pi which releases energy for the reduction of the 2 molecules GP into 2 molecules of TP.
• The 2X reduced NADP is also oxidised into 2 X NADP which is done by transferring H+ ions to reduce GP to TP. (done at the same time as GP being reduced).

Explain what is occurring in the image?
•1 Carbon out of the 6 of the 2 TP molecules(1/6) is used to make organic compounds e.g. glucose, lipids, amino acids (must name one)
info: it requires 6 cycles to make glucose since only 1 carbon is used to make an organic compound from each cycle.

Say what is occurring in the image?
What products does the Calvin cycle produce?
What products does the LDR produce?
How many ATP molecules would it require to make glucose?
•The remaining 5 carbons of the TP molecules are used for the regeneration of RuBP which occurs from the hydrolysis of ATP to form ADP + Pi which provides energy for the regeneration.
•This is 1 cycle of the Calvin cycle/light independant reaction.
3x ADP+ pi, TP, Organic substances
ATP,O2,NADP,
18 (6 carbons in glucose and 1 cycle makes 1 carbon with the us of 3 ATP molecules. 1C:3ATP times 6 is 6C:18ATP)
