Deltoid
The muscle that serves as the prime mover in the abduction of the arm at the shoulder joint.
Acetylcholine (ACh) permeability alteration
The initial event where ACh causes temporary permeability to sodium, triggering skeletal muscle to generate an action potential and contract.
Hinge joint
A type of joint, exemplified by the elbow joint, in which movement occurs in only one plane.
Quadriceps muscle group
The group of muscles that acts as the prime mover in the extension of the knee.
