Two steps
Oxidation of NADH and FADH2, creates proton motive force
Phosphorylation of ADP into ATP by ATP synthase, which uses the proton motive force
Proton motive force
—Oxidation of NADH and FADH2 sends H+ outside the membrane
—H+ comes back in through ATP synthase to make ATP

1 (electron transport chain — oxidation)
—NADH and FADH2 gives the electron to enzyme Q, which gives it to Cyt C, then to O2 to make water
—H+ exits the membrane via the complexes

2 (phosphorylation)
—Each turn of ATP synthase produces 3 ATP
——→2.5 ATP / NADH——→1.5 ATP / FADH2
—10 NADH gives 25 ATP (2 NADH from glycolysis, 2 from forming acetyle-CoA, 6 from krebs)
—2 FADH2 gives 3 ATP (2 FADH2 from krebs)
TOTAL: 32 ATP (glycolysis and krebs gives 4 ATP, ATP synthase makes 28)
