acromioclavicular joint
Clavicle articulates with the acromion of the Scapula
sternoclavicular joint
clavicle articulates with the sternum
scapulothoracic joint
not a true joint, but showd the relationship between the scapula and the ribcage
scapulohumeral joint movement type
ball and socket (spheroidal)
sternoclavicular joint movement type
plane of gliding
acromioclavicular joint movement type

Scapulohumeral joint
(glenohumeral or shoulder joint)
external rotation
shows greater tubercle laterally, humeral epicondyles parallel to ir.
orthostatic breathing
not holding breath- makes ribs blurry to better show scapula

ap and ap axial clavicle positioning
Erect or supine. Arms at side, chin raise, and posterior shoulder in contact with IR
ap scapula positioning
Erect or supine. Top of IR 2" above shoulder, and lateral border of IR should be 2" from lateral margin of ribs. Abduct arm 90° and supinate hand
lateral scapula positioning
Erect or recumbent, Face patient toward IR in anterior oblique position. Have patient reach across front of chest and grasp opposite shoulder (demonstrates body of scapula) or have patient drop affected arm, flex elbow, and place arm behind lower back with arm partially abducted (demonstrates acromion and coracoid processes.
lateral scapula
should have an imaginary perpendicular line between superior border of scapula and ac joing
ap clavicle cr
perpendicular to midclavicle
ap axial clavicle cr
15°-30° cephalad perpendicular to midclavicle
ap scapula cr
mid scapula, 2 in inferior to coracoid process or level of axilla, and 2 in medial from lateral border of patient
lateral scapula cr
midvertebral border
