1
New cards

define disproportionation

Reaction in which the same element is reduced and oxidised

2
New cards

percentage error calculation

tolerance/measurement x100

3
New cards

what to do when there are 2 measurements taken for a percentage error calculation

multiply the tolerance by the number of measurements

4
New cards

what reactant do you put in the conical flask?

The substance you are trying to work out

5
New cards

what reactant do you put in the burette?

the substance of known concentration. (the standard solution)

6
New cards

what reaction happens in an acid base titration

neutralisation

7
New cards

method to prepare a standard solution (5)

  • weigh solid accurately

  • dissolve the solid in less distilled water than to fill the volumetric flask

  • transfer to volumetric flask and rinse after to transfer all traces of the solid

  • add distilled water to the graduation line (bottom of meniscus from eye level)

  • Invert to mix the solution

8
New cards

uncertainty calculation

(uncertainty x number of measurements) / volume x100
