Aspiration
An event occurring when stomach contents enter into the lungs.
Pneumonia in Immunocompromised Hosts
Pneumonia occurring in patients due to corticosteroid or immunosuppressive agent use, chemotherapy, nutritional depletion, broad-spectrum antimicrobial use, or AIDS; includes Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP), fungal pneumonias, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Oxygen Inhalation Therapy
The administration of oxygen at a concentration greater than that found in the environmental atmosphere to prevent or correct tissue hypoxia.
Tissue Hypoxia
A condition characterized by a decreased oxygen supply to the body tissues.
Community-Acquired Pneumonia
A type of pneumonia characterized by a recognized seasonal pattern of incidence and prevalence.
Lobar Pneumonia
An acute infection and fluid or excess mucus accumulation confined to a specific lobe of the lung.

Pulmonary Edema
The abnormal accumulation of fluid within the lung tissue, the alveolar space, or both.

Pleural Effusion
An abnormal collection of fluid within the pleural space situated between the visceral pleura and parietal pleura.

Pulmonary Embolism (PE)
The obstruction of the pulmonary artery or one of its branches by a thrombus (or thrombi) originating somewhere in the venous system or the right side of the heart.

Diagnostic Assessments for Pulmonary Embolism
Diagnostic studies including Chest X-ray, ECG, peripheral vascular studies, ABGs, d-dimer, ventilation–perfusion scan, and CT used to evaluate suspected pulmonary embolism.
