Matter
This is anything that takes up space and has volume and mass, comprising atoms and molecules.
Gas
has neither a fixed volume or shape
Particles always spread out move freely and fill its container
the particles are very fast
Liquid
A state of matter that has a definite volume but takes the shape of its container, with particles that are close together but can flow past one another.
Solid
A state of matter characterized by a definite shape and volume, with particles that are closely packed together
Element
A substance that cannot be broken down anymore by chemical means
Compound
A substance formed when two or more elements chemically bond together, resulting in a material with different properties from the individual elements.
Atom
The basic unit of matter, composed of protons, neutrons, and electrons, that retains the properties of an element.
molecules
A group of two or more atoms bonded together
Sublimation
The process by which a solid transitions directly into a gas without passing through the liquid phase, commonly observed in substances like dry ice.
Condensation
warm gas cools down and loses heat energy, gas turns into liquid
Evaperation
when a liquid becomes a gas (Don’t mind my spelling)
Plasma
Is made of ions and doesn’t have a fixed shape
Only exists at a very high temperature.
The state of matter changes when?…..
When energy is added.
Higher temp =???
Faster speeds
Two types of solids are (That she wants us to know)
Crystalic and Amorphtous
Deposition
When a gas at room temp becomes a solid
