Scope of practice
The tasks and decisions a healthcare worker is legally and professionally allowed to perform based on their role, education, licensure, and employer policies.
Medical specialist
A clinician whose training focuses on a particular body system or type of condition.
Patient-centered care
Care that considers the patient’s needs, preferences, safety, and access to care.
Primary care provider (PCP)
A healthcare provider who evaluates symptoms, starts a basic workup, and refers patients to specialists.
High-quality observation and reporting
The act of accurately noticing and communicating patient details without diagnosing.
Red flags
Signs or symptoms that require urgent evaluation, such as sudden weakness or uncontrolled bleeding.
Hematologist
A specialist who evaluates and manages blood disorders.
Cardiology
The branch of medicine that deals with heart conditions.
Nephrologist
A specialist who treats medical kidney diseases and manages dialysis.
Pulmonologist
A specialist who diagnoses and treats lung and airway conditions.
Gastroenterologist
