Juz 5

وَٱلْمُحْصَنَـٰتُ

And the married women/chaste/free women

غَيْرَ مُسَـٰفِحِينَ ۚ

Not seeking fornication

طَوْلًا

Financial capability

فَتَيَـٰتِكُمُ

Your slave women/girls

بِإِذْنِ أَهْلِهِنَّ

With the permission of their masters

وَلَا مُتَّخِذَٰتِ أَخْدَانٍ ۚ

And not taking paramours

ٱلْعَنَتَ

Falling into sin

أَن تَمِيلُوا۟ مَيْلًا عَظِيمًا

That you deviate greatly

إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ تِجَـٰرَةً

Except that it be a transaction

نُصْلِيهِ نَارًا ۚ

We will enter/roast him in the fire

كَبَآئِرَ مَا تُنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ

The major sins that you have been prohibited from

مُّدْخَلًا كَرِيمًا

A noble place

وَلَا تَتَمَنَّوْا۟

And don’t desire

وَٱلَّذِينَ عَقَدَتْ أَيْمَـٰنُكُمْ

And those with whom you have taken pledges

قَوَّٰمُونَ

Caretakers

نُشُوزَهُنَّ

ill-treatment

وَٱهْجُرُوهُنَّ

And separate them

شِقَاقَ

Discord

فَٱبْعَثُوا۟ حَكَمًا

Then delegate a arbitrator

يُوَفِّقِ ٱللَّهُ بَيْنَهُمَآ ۗ

Allah will create harmony between them

وَٱلْجَارِ ٱلْجُنُبِ

And the far neighbor

مُخْتَالًا فَخُورًا

Boastful & arrogant

قَرِينًا

A companion

مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ ۖ

An atom’s weight

لَوْ تُسَوَّىٰ بِهِمُ ٱلْأَرْضُ

If the Earth could be flattened with them

عَابِرِى سَبِيلٍ

One who is passing through

ٱلْغَآئِطِ

The bathroom

فَتَيَمَّمُوا۟

So seek out

صَعِيدًا

Dirt

يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلْكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ

Taking words out of their context

غَيْرَ مُسْمَعٍ

May you not be able to hear

لَيًّۢا بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ

Twisting their tongues

وَطَعْنًا

And maligning

مِّن قَبْلِ أَن نَّطْمِسَ وُجُوهًا

Before we obliterate/wipe out the faces

مَفْعُولًا

Bound to occur

ٱفْتَرَىٰٓ إِثْمًا عَظِيمًا

He committed a grave sin

ٱلَّذِينَ يُزَكُّونَ أَنفُسَهُم ۚ

Those who claim themselves to be pure

وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا

And they will not be wronged even to the extent of a date thread

فَإِذًا لَّا يُؤْتُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ نَقِيرًا

So in that case, they wouldn’t give the people even to the extent of a speck on a date pit

صَدَّ

Turned away

سَعِيرًا

Blazing fire

نَضِجَتْ

To burn up

جُلُودُهُم

Their skins

ظِلًّا ظَلِيلًا

Extensive shade

نِعِمَّا يَعِظُكُم بِهِۦٓ ۗ

How wonderful is that which he advises you with

ۖ فَإِن تَنَـٰزَعْتُمْ

So if you argue

وَأَحْسَنُ تَأْوِيلًا

And far better as an outcome

يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَتَحَاكَمُوٓا۟

They intend to seek arbitration

يَصُدُّونَ عَنكَ صُدُودًا

Turning away from you in aversion

وَتَوْفِيقًا

And to create harmony

وَقُل لَّهُمْ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ قَوْلًۢا بَلِيغًا

And speak to them regarding themselves in an effective manner

فِيمَا شَجَرَ بَيْنَهُمْ

Regarding that which arises/occurs between them

حَرَجًا

Discomfort

وَأَشَدَّ تَثْبِيتًا

And more effective in making them firm

رَفِيقًا

Company

حِذْرَكُمْ

Your precautionary measures

فَٱنفِرُوا۟

Go out

ثُبَاتٍ

Individually (as independent groups)

لَمَن لَّيُبَطِّئَنَّ

The one who lingers behind

مَوَدَّةٌ

Friendship

فَأَفُوزَ فَوْزًا عَظِيمًا

Then I would have been extremely successful

كُفُّوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَكُمْ

Restrain your hands

بُرُوجٍ مُّشَيَّدَةٍ ۗ

Lofty, fortified towers

لَا يَكَادُونَ يَفْقَهُونَ حَدِيثًا

They can’t even begin to understand any discourse

حَفِيظًا

Enforcer

فَإِذَا بَرَزُوا۟ مِنْ عِندِكَ

When they leave from you

بَيَّتَ طَآئِفَةٌ مِّنْهُمْ

A group of them spends the night talking

أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ ۚ

Do they not ponder over the Quran?

أَذَاعُوا۟ بِهِۦ

They spread it

ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْتَنۢبِطُونَهُۥ مِنْهُمْ

The one who was investigating it from them

وَحَرِّضِ

And encourage

وَأَشَدُّ تَنكِيلًا

And more severe in meting out punishment

كِفْلٌ

a share

وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ مُّقِيتًا

And Allah has power over all things

وَٱللَّهُ أَرْكَسَهُم بِمَا كَسَبُوٓا۟

And Allah destroyed them because of what they did

أَوْ جَآءُوكُمْ حَصِرَتْ صُدُورُهُمْ

Or they come to you while their hearts are in a dilemma

فَإِنِ ٱعْتَزَلُوكُمْ

So if they withdraw from you

وَأَلْقَوْا۟ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلسَّلَمَ

And they offer you peace

حَيْثُ ثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْ ۚ

Wherever you find them

فَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُّؤْمِنَةٍ

Then freeing a believing slave

وَدِيَةٌ مُّسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦٓ

And blood money handed over to his family

مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ

Consecutive

مُّتَعَمِّدًا

Intentionally

فَتَبَيَّنُوا۟

Then verify

عَرَضَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا

The commodity of worldly life

مَغَانِمُ كَثِيرَةٌ

Many riches

غَيْرُ أُو۟لِى ٱلضَّرَرِ

Other than the handicapped

لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ حِيلَةً

They don’t have the means

وَلَا يَهْتَدُونَ سَبِيلًا

Nor did they find any way

مُرَٰغَمًا كَثِيرًا

Many places of refuge

وَسَعَةً ۚ

And an abundance of resources

فَقَدْ وَقَعَ أَجْرُهُۥ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۗ

Then surely his reward has been secured with Allah

ۗ وَدَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْ تَغْفُلُونَ

And those who have disbelieved wish that you are negligent/oblivious

فَيَمِيلُونَ عَلَيْكُم مَّيْلَةً وَٰحِدَةً ۚ

So they can attack you all at once

وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِكُمْ ۚ

And on your sides (Lying down)

كِتَـٰبًا مَّوْقُوتًا

Bound by time

وَلَا تَهِنُوا۟

And don’t lose heart

إِن تَكُونُوا۟ تَأْلَمُونَ

If you are injured/in pain

وَلَا تَكُن لِّلْخَآئِنِينَ خَصِيمًا

And don’t be an advocate for the deceitful ones

وَلَا تُجَـٰدِلْ عَنِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْتَانُونَ أَنفُسَهُمْ ۚ

And don’t argue on behalf of those who deceive themselves
