When do valves open and close?

Open when the pressure behind them exceeds the pressure infront and them and closes when the reverse it true

2

What happens with isovolumetric contraction?

This is right after the QRS complex where the ventricle volume is high so the AV valve is shut but the pressure isn’t high enough to open the pulmonary/aortic valves. Ventricular pressure rises while ventricular volume remains the same.

3
New cards

When does ventricular filling and ejection occur?

when ventricular pressure is low and the AV valves are open (atrial systole adds the final portion of filling), when ventricular pressure exceeds aterial pressure and volume

4
New cards

What is isovolumetric relaxation occur?

Both valve sets are closed, the pressure falls and the volume remains constant

5
New cards

When does filling resume?

When AV valves open because ventricular pressure falls below atrial pressure

Systole vs diastole

contraction vs relaxation
