Colonialism → artificial borders drawn by colonizers (sykes-picot) → ethnic identities forced together → conflicts and violence
ex. Iraq is extremely ethnically diverse with multiple nations within its borders. The Kurds, and ethnic group, have desired to become its own sovereign nation, Kurdistan.
