Skill-Related Fitness
Components like agility, balance, coordination, speed, power, and reaction time that are important for sports performance and the capacity to perform during games and sports.
Health-Related Fitness
Exercises done with the intention of improving physical health and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, consisting of cardiovascular endurance, muscle strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.
Speed
The maximum rate at which a person can move or cover a distance in a certain amount of time.
Agility
The capacity to shift or change the orientation of the body rapidly from one point to another.
Balance
The ability to keep your body in place, whether standing still (static balance) or moving (dynamic balance).
Static Balance
The ability to keep your body in place while standing still.
Dynamic Balance
The ability to keep your body in place while moving.
Coordination
The ability to move in a way that is smooth, accurate, and under control.
Power
The ability to perform one maximum effort in the shortest possible time, combining strength and speed.
Reaction Time
The rate at which an athlete reacts to an external stimuli.
Hexagon Agility Test
An agility assessment in which an athlete jumps with both feet over each side of a taped hexagon and back to the center, completing three full revolutions as quickly as possible.
Juggling
A physical skill involving the manipulation of objects for recreation, entertainment, art, or sport, used to measure eye and hand coordination.
Standing Long Jump
Also called the Broad Jump, a common and easy-to-administer test of explosive leg power.
50 Meter Sprint Test
A test used to measure acceleration and speed over a short distance by having an individual sprint at maximum speed over 50 meters while being timed.
Stork Balance Stand Test
An assessment evaluating whole body balance ability by requiring a person to stand on one leg, up on the ball of the foot, for as long as possible.
Shuttle Run Test
A test involving repetitive running back and forth, either over the same distance or with changing distances, to measure attributes like speed, agility, or aerobic fitness.
