Levator Palpebrae Superioris
A muscle that functions in elevation of the upper eyelid (opening eye) and is innervated by CN III (Oculomotor).

Obicularis Oculi
A muscle responsible for blinking and voluntary squinting, innervated by CN VII (Facial Nerve).

Obicularis Oris
A facial muscle that closes, purses, and protrudes the lips, innervated by CN VII (Facial Nerve).

Platysma
A muscle responsible for lowering of the lower lip and frowning, innervated by CN VII (Facial Nerve).

Frontalis
A facial muscle responsible for lifting of the eyebrows, innervated by CN VII (Facial Nerve).

Depressor Labii Inferioris
A facial muscle that depresses and everts lower lip, innervated by CN VII (Facial Nerve).

Temporalis
A muscle of mastication involved in elevation & retraction of the mandible, innervated by CN V (Trigeminal Nerve) - V3.

Masseter
A muscle of mastication involved in elevation & protraction of the mandible, innervated by CN V (Trigeminal Nerve) - V3.

Medial Pterygoid
A muscle responsible for elevation, protrusion & unilateral lateral deviation of the mandible, innervated by CN V (Trigeminal Nerve) - V3.

Lateral Pterygoid
A muscle responsible for depression, protrusion & unilateral lateral deviation of the mandible, innervated by CN V (Trigeminal Nerve) - V3.

Medial Rectus
An extraocular muscle that adducts the eyeball, innervated by CN III (Oculomotor Nerve).

Lateral Rectus
An extraocular muscle that abducts the eyeball, innervated by CN VI (Abducens Nerve).

Superior Rectus
An extraocular muscle responsible for elevation, adduction, and intorsion, innervated by CN III (Oculomotor Nerve).

Inferior Rectus
An extraocular muscle responsible for depresses, adduction, extorsion, innervated by CN III (Oculomotor Nerve).

Superior Oblique
An extraocular muscle that depresses, abducts, intorsion.

Inferior Oblique
An extraocular muscle responsible for elevation, abduction, extorsion, innervated by CN III (Oculomotor Nerve).
Tongue Muscles Innervation
All muscles of the tongue are innervated by XII (Hypoglossal Nerve), except the Palatoglossus which is innervated by X (Vagus Nerve).
Palatoglossus Innervation
Innervated by nerve X (Vagus Nerve), serving as the exception to tongue muscles innervated by XII.

Suprahyoid Muscles
A group of hyoid muscles responsible for elevation of hyoid bone during swallowing, speaking, chewing; innervated by CN V - V3, CN VII, and CN XII.

Infrahyoid Muscles
A group of hyoid muscles that depresses the Hyoid & Larynx during speech and swallowing; innervated by CN XII & Ansa Cervicalis Nerve.
Pharynx Muscles Innervation
Innervated by CN X (Vagus Nerve) & CN IX (Glossopharyngeal Nerve).
