Renewable Resources
Resources that are naturally replaced or replenished on a human timeline and can be used over and over again, such as solar, wind, water, trees/forests, plants, animals, and geothermal energy.
Nonrenewable Resources
Resources that take more than a human lifetime to be replenished and will run out if not used wisely, including fossil fuels, minerals, and uranium.
Alternative Resources
Newer or different sources of energy that are often cleaner and more reliable than existing resources, helping reduce pollution, greenhouse gases, and reliance on fossil fuels.
Fossil Fuels
Examples of nonrenewable resources that include coal, oil, and natural gas.
Minerals
Examples of nonrenewable resources listed as gold, silver, and copper.
