Distributive Property of Sigma Notation
The rule stating that a constant scalar factor can be factored outside of the summation: ∑k=cn[d⋅ak]=d∑k=cn[ak].
Associative Property of Addition (Sigma Notation)
The rule stating that the sum or difference within a summation can be evaluated as separate summations: ∑k=cn[ak+bk]=∑k=cn[ak]+∑k=cn[bk].
Constant Summation Formula
The formula for summing a constant c across n terms starting from k=1: ∑k=1n[c]=c⋅n.
Sum of Consecutive Integers Formula
The summation formula for the first n integers: ∑k=1n[k]=2n(n+1).
Sum of Consecutive Squares Formula
The summation formula for the squares of the first n integers: ∑k=1n[k2]=6n(n+1)(2n+1).
Sum of Consecutive Cubes Formula
The summation formula for the cubes of the first n integers: ∑k=1n[k3]=[2n(n+1)]2.
Arithmetic Sequence (Explicit Formula)
The explicit formula to find any term in an arithmetic sequence: an=a1+d(n−1) or relative to term k as an=ak+d(n−k).
Arithmetic Sequence (Recursive Formula)
A sequence formula where the first term a1 is given, and each subsequent term is defined by an=an−1+d for n≥2.
Arithmetic Sum (Sn)
The formula for the sum of the first n terms of an arithmetic series: Sn=2n(a1+an).
Recursive Formula for Calc Section
A recursive model for amortized loans or balance changes given by a0=B and an=(1+kr)an−1−P.
Geometric Sequence (Explicit Formula)
The explicit formula for the nth term of a geometric sequence: an=a1rn−1 (also written as gn=g0rn or gn=gkrn−k).
Geometric Sequence (Recursive Formula)
A sequence formula where the first term a1 is given, and each subsequent term is defined by an=r⋅an−1 for n≥2.
Infinite Geometric Sum
The sum of an infinite geometric series when ∣r∣<1: S=1−rg1.
