Nonparametric statistics
Statistical methods that do not assume a normal distribution of the data.
Parametric tests
Statistical methods based on assumptions regarding the distribution of the underlying data, such as t-tests and ANOVA.
Chi-square goodness-of-fit test
A statistical test to determine whether observed frequencies differ from expected frequencies.
Observational independence
The requirement that data collected from different subjects are not influenced by one another.
Degrees of freedom (df)
The number of independent values that can vary in an analysis without breaking any constraints.
Expected frequencies
The frequencies that would be expected if the null hypothesis were true.
Sign test
A nonparametric test that compares paired samples to determine if their differences are significant.
